Yes! Pit crews are welcome and encouraged, but must remain in designated areas at all times. Each driver is responsible for their own tools, parts, and repairs.
The registration fee includes two pit passes plus the driver per car entry. Additional pit passes may be purchased for $50.00 each during check-in or registration.
Each vehicle is allowed a maximum of two trips through inspection. If your car fails the first time, you’ll be given one opportunity to make corrections and return. Do not bring your vehicle to the inspection line until it is fully prepared and ready for review. Failure to pass inspection on the second attempt will result in disqualification from competition.
No, pit access is limited to drivers, pit crew members, and officials for safety reasons.
Drivers may submit an official protest by paying a $50.00 cash-only fee through the designated driver liaison. Protests must be submitted on the day of the derby—no late protests will be accepted.
Drivers are not permitted to approach judges directly. Once a formal protest is submitted, judges will reconvene at a later date to review the specific heat or main event in question.
If the protest is upheld, the $50.00 fee will be refunded. If the protest is not upheld, the fee will be donated to Carbon County Search and Rescue.
Please note: No payouts will be issued until all protests are fully resolved.
We appreciate all drivers competing with fairness, respect, and sportsmanship.
Yes, you may compete in more than one class as long as you have a separate vehicle for each class that passes inspection, and you pay the entry fee for each car.
No. Once a driver is registered to a vehicle, that driver must remain with that car for the duration of the heat or main—driver changes are not allowed.
However, if a driver enters two vehicles, they must drive both cars in their respective heats. If both vehicles qualify for the main event, the driver may choose which vehicle to drive. A designated second driver for the other car must be identified at the start of the derby and must also be properly registered.
Fire suits are highly recommended but are not required. At minimum, all drivers must wear long sleeves, long pants or coveralls, closed toe shoes, and a DOT-approved helmet. Drivers will be disqualified if at any time their helmet is removed during an event.
No. For safety reasons, only the registered driver is allowed in the vehicle during competition.
Per official derby rules, vehicles must be under their own power and make an intentional hit at least once every 90 seconds to remain in competition. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. Rocking while stuck or making incidental contact with another stalled or immobilized vehicle does not count as an active hit. To qualify, the vehicle must be moving under its own power and make a deliberate strike.
No. Absolutely no alcohol or drugs are allowed in the pits or on the track. Violations can result in immediate disqualification and removal from the event.
Entry fees are non-refundable unless the event is canceled by organizers. If you can’t compete after registering, please notify the event coordinator.
