Ready When You Need Them
Price, UT — The Carbon County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue (CCSAR) team is a highly trained, all-volunteer unit operating under the direction of the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office. Based in Price, the team consists of 22 skilled members who remain on call 24/7, ready to respond to emergencies throughout Carbon County and surrounding areas.
Whether it’s locating lost hikers, performing technical rescues in rugged terrain, or assisting with snow emergencies, CCSAR is always prepared to act—often in extreme conditions and under tight timelines. They routinely work in partnership with regional public safety agencies including CERT, Hazmat, and local law enforcement, ensuring a fast and coordinated response.
One notable rescue in March 2017 involved two college students stranded on a cliff ledge near Helper’s Balance Rock. The CCSAR team deployed advanced rope-rescue techniques to safely recover both individuals without injury, demonstrating the team’s expertise and precision. Read more about that rescue here.
